I open the doors to the Consol Energy Center as I had for the Penguins offices, located within the building somewhere.
Walking over to a counter I say "Excuse me miss?"
"Yes ma'am, may I help you?" She asks.
"Where are the Penguins offices located at?" I ask.
"Do you work here?" She asks.
"This is my first day, so I'm new to the building," I reply.
"Ok, who are you working with?" She asks.
"Mario Lemieux," I say.
"Ms. Collins?"
I turn around to see a tall man.
"Yes?" I ask.
"I am Mario Lemieux, you may follow me," He says as I begin to follow him.
"So I never got to meet you the day of your interview, I apogize. I was needed at home," He says.
"It's alright sir. Mr. Shero was nice," I say.
"He said that he saw something in you. So where are you from?"
"I'm from Toronto,"
"Ahh, what made you move down here?"
"I moved down with my older sister, I didn't want to stay home forever,"
"I understand that , you elder daughter Lauren wants to move out,"
"My sister's name is Lauren too,"
We walked to stairs as we begin our climb up there.
"We will be able to see the rink from your office, well it's our office," He says.
"Thats pretty cool," I say as he opens the door as I follow him.
We walk down a hallway that has alot of offices in it as Mario stops in front of his door.
He opens the door.
There is this big window staring down onto the hockey rink.
"Wow," I say.
"Go ahead and go in and we will go over somethings," he says.
I walk in as I walk over to the window and stare down onto the ice were there are players on the ice.
Staring, I watch him practice.
Then snapping back, I turn around as I take a seat in his big comfy chair near the glass window.
"So How do you pronounce your name? I never seen it before," he asks.
"Bre-ell, the e at the end is silence," I say.
"Ok so Brielle have you done anything like this before?"
"I have done similiar work while I was in Toronto for a doctor's office,"
"How old are you?"
"24, was born on August 7th, 1988,"
"August 7th? That's Sid's birthday too. He is the captain for our team,"
"Ohh, cool,"
"Anyways what your job entails is that report to work unless one, season is done and 2 if weather permits you from coming. Once the season is over, I will have you go to the draft, then report to training like the players. You are my assistant, so you will be where ever I go besides when I go home. You will go to every away game and home games here. During the games, I will have you in a suite watching the games with Ray and others. I want you to take notes. You will attend 2 practices as week, and 5 events a season. Am I making sense?"
"Yes sir,"
"Ok, you will be giving your badge today, I will take you down to the locker room area once the boys have tooken their pictures. Umm you will organize the office and paperwork. I believe you have enough on your plate. You will start tomorrow. I'll give you a break today. Now sign here,"
He places a paper in front of my face.
Taking the pen I sign it.
"Thank you and welcome to the Pittsburgh Penguins team,"
He stands up as I stand up to shake his hand.
Just as he did, my phone began to ring.
"Can I get my phone?" I ask.
"Go ahead," he says.
Grabbing it out of the pocket, I answer it.
"Hello," I say.
"I got the job!!," Exclaims LC.
"Congrats, I just signed my contact to work for the Penguins," I says.
"Congrats little sis, you now work for the best team,"
I chuckle
"So what are you doing?" I ask, not remembering what she got an interview for.
"Penguins interviewer then I got a second job as the National Anthem singer as well,"
"Well congrats, so I will see you less huh?"
"Probably, I have to go to away games and everything,"
"Well I gotta go to away games too, guess we will see each other alot then,"
"Oh great,"
"Haha LC,"
"I got to get my picture done here soon,"
"Me too, Mario will take me down for mine,"
"See ya then. Bye,"
I roll my eyes.
My big sister is something else.
"So you ready to head down? They boys aren't done with practice so we will get your picture done now," He asks.
"Yes," I say as I follow him out of the office and back down that hall.
We then walk down the stairs back down to the main part of the center.
"I think you are going to do well Brielle, so are you a hockey fan?" He asks as I follow him down the lower part.
"Oh yes, I'm a big Maple Leaf fan. I was raised that way," I say.
"We got to make you a Pens fan since your part of our family now,"
"We will see if ya can do that,"
"We will, the boys will help,"
I chuckle as we head down to the locker room.
Well here we are," He says as we walk into the locker room.
A green screen was set up and empolyees stood in line.
"Thank you Mario," I say.
"Your welcome, see you for work tomorrow," He says.
"Ok sir, oh where do I get my badge?"
"At the front desk tomorrow morning,"
"Thank you. See you tomorrow,"
He nods his head as he disappears.
I hop in line as I see LC two in front of me.
"Hey sis," LC says as she waves to me.
"Hey LC," I says.
We will talk afterwards," she says.
I stood in line as I wait for my turn.
"next," A man says.
I get up and sit down in the stool thats provided.
"On three smile, 1,2,3," he says as I smile like I never have before.
"Thank you, next,"
As I walk away from the photographer, the Penguins players began to come in.
I stop as I let them to walk in.
I watch as every single one of them walk in before I walk out.
Walking out, LC stood by a wall.
"So, when do you start?" She asks.
"Tomorrow and you?" I ask.
"Tomorrow I go to southpointe to do interviews. So you excited for work?"
"Yes. Ready to deal with hockey players, not so much,"
"Know what you mean, sis,"
Me and my sister both just came out of abusive relationships. Her ex Tyler cheated and abused her. My ex John just abused me and cheated one me as well. They both are assholes and they ruined us ever having anymore relationships. I'm afraid what happened with John will happen again.
"So you heading home?" I ask as we walk to the enternce of the Consol Energy Center.
"No gonna go mall shopping, I need some more new clothes for singing the National Anthem as well as interviewing. You wanna come?"LC asks.
"Nah, you know I'm not into shopping," I say.
"Dont you need work clothes?"
She was right.
"Yeah but I dont wanna go shopping," I says.
"Your going, so get in your car and follow me. I'll help you,"
"Ok, I know you got good taste in clothes,"
We walk out of the Consol Energy Center and I part ways from LC and head left cause I parked on the road.
"Where you parked?" LC asks.
"Down here, and you?" I ask.
"In the parking lot across the street. Just drive over there,"
"Ok," I say as I walk down the sidewalk to my car.
She is a 2009 Black Range Rover while my sister as a 2010 black corvette.
I walk over to my car and get in.
I do everything as I pull out of my parking space down the street.
At the light, I take a right then a left into the parking lot.
I found my sister as I park next to her car.
Rolling down my sis says"We are going to the mall in Monroeville,"
"Why out there?" I ask.
"They have a few stores that have great deals,"
"Alright, I'll follow you,"
Rolling the window up, I watch as she pulls away as I turn around to follow her.
We take a left at the light as we head for the mall.
